B. RILEY & CO 10th ANNUAL INSTITUTIONAL INVESTOR CONFERENCE TO FEATURE SESSIONS ON CREDIT CRISIS IN COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE AND SHAREHOLDER ACTIVISM

Los Angeles, CA March 2, 2009-- The impact of the credit crisis on commercial real estate, shareholder activism, financing strategies and managing business in a downturn economy are featured sessions at the B. Riley & Co, LLC 10th Annual Las Vegas Institutional Investor Conference that will be held on March 17-19, 2009 at the Palms Casino Resort.    

These timely sessions complement the approximately 115 company presentations scheduled during the two-day conference, which is designed as a condensed road show for company management and institutional investors. 

“Each year the panel topics address issues relevant to the current markets,” said B. Riley’s Director of Research, Ian Corydon. “No one disputes that real estate and the credit markets are at the top of the list. Many believe that the next shoe to drop will be in commercial real estate.” 

To help investors understand and prepare for potential opportunities in that sector, B. Riley will be featuring a special session led by Dr. Victor Canalog, Director of Research at Reis, Inc., the nation’s leading provider of independent analysis and trend forecasting on commercial real estate in 169 metropolitan areas and more than 1,800 submarkets.

Dr. Canalog has reported a record amount of commercial real estate debt coming due in 2010 and 2011. His presentation will provide an overview of the sector, the state of loans, outlook for delinquencies and defaults, and the availability of bank credit.

A second session will have an expert panel discussing Activism and Corporate Governance from both a shareholder and company perspective.  The session, spurred by an increase in the number of actions since the stock market decline, will review ways to implement value-maximizing initiatives acceptable to both companies and their shareholders.

B. Riley recently launched a Corporate Governance Advisory Service with professionals dedicated to handling activist issues for both companies and investors.  

Two additional panel sessions will focus on “Managing Business in a Downturn Economy” and “Financing Strategies”.  The former will be spearheaded by BDO Seidman and focus on strategies public companies can use to weather the current market decline.  The latter will highlight financing instruments currently available to public companies as well as feature foreign exchanges such as the Toronto Stock Exchange, which offer alternative listing opportunities.
